Invisalign^® is a newer way to straighten teeth without metal braces. It is quickly gaining popularity in Canada and throughout the world for its many benefits. This strategically developed orthodontic system was created to enhance comfort for the patient and eliminate some of the lesser attractive qualities of traditional braces.

The Invisalign Method

The straightening power of Invisalign is achieved through the use of clear plastic aligners that fit on the front surfaces of your teeth. For years, metal braces were the only option. Now, Invisalign allows you to realign your smile without having to commit to several years of a “mouth full of metal.”

At the Calgary dental practice of Dr. Mehbs Ali, we offer both Invisalign and traditional metal braces. While most patients prefer Invisalign, braces may be a better option for some. Both straightening solutions achieve similar results in roughly the same time period. At your initial consultation, Dr. Ali will recommend the most effective option to address your unique oral health needs.

Customizing Your Invisalign Treatment

Once you have decided that Invisalign is the right option for you, Dr. Ali will begin your treatment regimen by creating your aligners. This is carried out by taking 3-D digital images of your teeth which are sent to the Invisalign lab and used to construct a series of aligners designed to fit your personal specifications. At regular intervals, usually about every two weeks, you will switch your aligner for the next one in the series. These aligners gently move your teeth with gentle pressure until their ideal positioning is ultimately achieved.

Your Invisalign aligners are removable, so you can take them out to eat, brush, or floss. You can also remove them for special occasions so that you will look your best for pictures. Please note that they should only be removed for very short periods of time so as not to compromise your progress.
